Who we are
Star Mind Abacus (“we”, “us”) runs Abacus and Mental Maths classes for children in Pune, PCMC and Nashik, and operates this website, the student panel at https://students.starmindabacus.com/ and the Star Mind Abacus mobile app (together, the “Services”). This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have.
It is written for parents and guardians. Our students are children, so the Services are intended to be set up and used under a parent’s or guardian’s supervision.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Parent/guardian name, mobile/WhatsApp number and email address.
- Student name, age or class, branch/centre, course level and batch.
- Login details for the student panel/app (username or registered mobile number and password).
- Messages you send us on WhatsApp, phone or email.
Information created when the student uses the Services
- Practice and test activity: answers, scores, speed, levels completed, attendance and progress reports.
- Fee and enrolment records kept by your branch.
Information collected automatically
- Basic technical data needed to run the app securely, such as device type, operating system version, app version, IP address and crash/error logs.
We do not collect precise location, contacts, SMS, call logs, photos or files from your device, and we do not show third-party advertising.
The free demo form
The “Book a free demo” form on this website does not store your details on our servers. When you press submit, it opens WhatsApp on your device with a pre-written message addressed to the branch you chose; the details are only shared if you send that message.
How we use information
- To enrol students, run classes, and give access to practice material in the app.
- To track and report a student’s progress to their parent/guardian and teacher.
- To contact parents about classes, schedules, exams, events and fees.
- To keep the Services secure, fix bugs and improve them.
- To meet legal, accounting and tax obligations.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use children’s data for advertising or profiling.
Children’s privacy
Student accounts are created by our branches at the request of a parent or guardian, who gives consent for the student’s data to be processed for teaching. A parent/guardian can review, correct or delete their child’s information at any time using the contacts below. If we learn that we hold a child’s data without a parent’s consent, we will delete it.
Security and retention
Data is sent over encrypted (HTTPS) connections and access is limited to staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep login details private.
We keep a student’s records while they are enrolled and for up to 2 years afterwards (so returning students can continue their level), unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Records we must keep by law, such as fee receipts, are kept for the period the law requires.
Your rights and choices
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your or your child’s personal data, or withdraw consent, at any time. These rights are provided in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and other applicable law.
To delete the app account and its data, follow the steps on our account deletion page. We complete deletion requests within 30 days.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we will tell parents through the app or WhatsApp.
